Caya

Just a little update on Caya... She is still here. Our usual vet was on holiday and this vet did not really want to make any decisions about her. Caya was very close to a pneumonia and so she is on human antibiotics once again. The treatment of her bladder has been stopped to be able to treat her very problematic breathing. But she is still here and she does not seem to mind :o)
This picture was taken yesterday on our bright red chair. Yes, I know....How can someone that has problems with bright colours buy a ferrari red chair...What can I say, I must have had a temporary lapse of reason for a minute. I desaturated the picture to tone down the red a bit. Would not like to scare you all away from the screen, right?

Scared...

I just needed to sit here and stay calm for a bit. We will be taking Caya to the vet's this afternoon. The situation got really bad this morning with her coughing and gasping for air. It might be another really, really bad case of sinusitis, but I am really scared this time. I get sick when I think of the date of today....Both Amor and Cino died on the 25th, it is a bad date for me... I think I will pick up my knitting and knit a scarf or something this afternoon to keep sane. No bear faces today. I know from experience that unhappy feelings lead to unhappy bears

The come back kid...

It was quite some weekend. Caya got worse and worse and on Sunday all she did was urinate with loads and loads of blood in it. It broke my heart to see her like that, she felt so sad and uncomfortable. On Sunday evening after loads of tears I decided to call the vet on Monday and let her go. I did not sleep much that night, thinking it was going to be my last with her and also my last night with a dog (having had dogs, many dogs, from the very first day I left my parent's house).
The next day I called the vet and he said that as a last resort we could try to raise Caya's dose of steroids and to change the time of the day that she would get them and what do you know....: the come-back-kid did it again. She started feeling better and was diving into drawers again this morning (favourite hobby that has everything to do with a huge passion for socks...lol). My life feels like a rollercoaster these days. I am happy she has picked up again, but know I will have to go through the feelings of last Sunday again some day in the not so far away future and that really isn't a good prospect...

Oh so sad

I must have felt it coming by posting a picture of my girl Caya. She was diagnozed with cancer yesterday and we will loose her in one of the upcoming days. I ask all of you waiting for a bear to please be patient with me, as I need some time to get myself back together. I really can't talk much more about it, I am just so very upset. I will be working as much as possible, but have taken at least this weekend off to try to be with Caya as much as possible. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

This song came to mind after I saw this picture...This is of course me and ''my girl'' Caya. This look she gives me is why she has me working so hard to get her back to a better health. She is totally devoted to me and as you can see...I adore her too...who can resist a face like that?

A near miss...

I have such nice friends from all over the world that are wondering what in the world has happened to the long e-mails Ellen is known for....I really do apologize for not getting back to you straight away, how is it that they put it? ''It is not you, it's me!''

My Havanese Caya was in such a bad state that we came very close to having her put to sleep. I don't want to write about this too much as I want to keep positive and I really need to believe that she'll be fine. If I write too much about it, it all becomes so real, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, as she suffers from a severe allergy, my days have been filled with cleaning every inch of this house, driving to the vet and taking care of her. It has kept me very busy, but I can't wait to get started on this new line of bears that I have in my head, so please bear with me for a while longer...;o) I will get back to each and every one of you that has sent such wonderful and kind e-mails!

My girl...

Yesterday my husband got me to clean out my computer. I had to get rid of 10 GB on the hard drive, which meant I was to make back up files of many, many pictures and try to figure out which I still wanted on the computer. It took me almost 6 hours of sorting through my many pictures. Whilst doing that, I came across loads of pictures of my dog(s). As it was the 25th of the month, I was feeling a bit gloomy...Last year I lost my beloved Amor (Caya's granddad) on the 25th of April and his son Cino (Caya's dad) exactly three months later on July 25th. Sooo, the 25th was not such a happy date for me. Anyway, I just wanted to show you some other pictures of the sweet little, almost 11 year old, girl my guys left me...

She is keeping a close eye on the progress I am making with my new bears, so there will be new bears any day now!
